What we collect

Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, name if given, and the content of your message. The contact tool on our site runs entirely in your browser and does not transmit anything to us.

Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and time of request, for security and to keep the site running.

Local preferences. Your browser may store preferences, such as cookie choices, on your device. See our cookie notice.

Why we use it and our legal basis

We use emails to reply and to improve our route notes (legitimate interests). We use server logs to protect and operate the site (legitimate interests). We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising profiles.

How long we keep it

Emails are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted unless an ongoing conversation requires otherwise. Server logs are kept for up to 30 days.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers who host the site and our email, under contracts that protect it, or where required by law. Where data is processed outside the UK, appropriate safeguards are used.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may request access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to or restrict its processing, and request portability. Email us to exercise these rights. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
